The Hunter Centre Charity Golf Day - 8th June 2023

The weather was brilliant for our Charity Golf day and so was much of the golf, despite tricky rough and fast greens. 19 teams entered – a mix of Hindhead members, and visitors from clubs such as Liphook, Lee On Solent and elsewhere.

At the lunch afterwards Elaine Clement, The Hunter Centre Operations Manager, explained the support the charity gives to those with a diagnosis of dementia and their carers.  Anne Downing, the Chairman, gave thanks to all and in particular Malcolm Carter, a founding Trustee who is stepping down after 6 years. Martin Coakley, another founding Trustee, made a presentation gift to Malcolm.

The Team scores were high, assisted by double points on all Par 3s. Results were as follows:-

1st – Geoff & Lesley Sullivan, Jane Sayer and Jon Prentice – 125 points – winning a Fourball Voucher for the Downs Course at Goodwood, kindly donated by the Duke of Richmond.

2nd – Jill Gale, Carol Knight, Gill Jeal & Janet Snowball – 121 points – winning Ladies golf shirts.

3rd – Jan Bigos, Jan Bailey, Elaine Wilson & Rosemary Gorham – 120 points – winning a box of Titleist golf balls each.

The best visiting team, outside the main prizes, was Lee On Solent, and they won a fourball to return to Hindhead.

There was also a Prize Draw for a fourball, kindly donated by Liphook Golf Club. This raised £650 and was won by John Mass.

Nearest the Pin prizes of champagne & rioja, went to John Bigos, Andy Gloak, Ann Nash & Lesley Sullivan.

An additional donation, the opportunity to play at Liphook with John & Jan Bigos, was auctioned and won by Rob Lear.

A great time was had by all and most importantly an estimated £3,600 was raised for the charity.
